TIFR Recruitment 2026: Project Associate & Senior Project Associate in High Energy Physics, Mumbai
Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Mumbai, invites applications from eligible candidates for the positions of Project Associate and Senior Project Associate in the Department of High Energy Physics. The positions are concurrent with an extramural project under the supervision of Prof. Gagan Mohanty.
Job Summary
This is a temporary research project position based at the TIFR Mumbai campus. The selected candidates will work on hardware development, module assembly, and testing for high-energy physics experiments. The appointments will initially be for one year, extendable up to a maximum of another two years based on performance.

Eligibility & Qualification
1. Project Associate
- Essential Qualification: B.E./B.Tech. degree in Electronics / Electronics & Communication / Electrical & Electronics / Electronics & Telecommunications OR M.Sc. degree in Electronics / Electronic Sciences with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks from a recognized University / Institute.
- Desirable: Minimum of one-year experience in research labs. Freshers will be considered if experienced candidates are not available.
- Age Limit: Below 28 years as on the closing date of the application.
2. Senior Project Associate
- Essential Qualification: M.E./M.Tech. degree in Electronics / Electronics & Communication / Electrical & Electronics / Electronics & Telecommunications with a minimum of 60% aggregate marks OR Ph.D. degree in Experimental High Energy/Nuclear Physics with hardware experience. (Candidates who have submitted their Ph.D. thesis and are awaiting the Viva may also apply).
- Desirable: Minimum of two years’ experience in research labs for the M.E. / M.Tech. candidates.
- Age Limit: Below 32 years as on the closing date of the application.
Job Description
For Project Associate:
- Assembly of Si modules with an automated gantry system.
- Measurement with an optical coordinate measuring machine.
- Perform wire bonding, pull testing, and encapsulation.
For Senior Project Associate:
- Set up single- and multi-module test stands to test assembled modules.
- Participate in database management.
- Analyze the mechanical and electrical QC/QA data of the modules.
