National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela has announced an advertisement for the recruitment of Junior Research Fellows (JRF) / Project Associates (PA) for 10 positions under the prestigious ANRF-PAIR sponsored project. The engagement is purely on a temporary/contractual basis and co-terminus with the completion of the project. Selected candidates will also have the opportunity to register for a Ph.D. programme at NIT Rourkela.

Fellowship & Benefits
- Junior Research Fellow (JRF):
- Year 1 & 2: ₹37,000 per month
- Year 3 onwards (till completion of project): ₹42,000 per month
- Project Associate – I (PA):
- Year 1 to 5: ₹30,000 per month
- Accommodation: Shared accommodation will be provided in the institute hostel.
Eligibility & Qualification
Essential Qualifications
- Junior Research Fellow (JRF): Post Graduate degree in basic science OR Graduate / Post Graduate Degree in Professional Course selected through a process described through any one of the following:
- Scholars who are selected through National Eligibility Tests – CSIR-UGC NET including Lectureship (Assistant Professorship) and GATE.
- The selection process through National Eligibility Examinations conducted by Central Government Departments and their Agencies and Institutions such as DBT, DST, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MoE, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER, NISER, etc.
- Project Associate – I (PA): Four years Bachelor’s Degree in Natural or Agriculture Science / Master’s Degree in Natural or Agriculture Sciences / BVSc / B. Pharm or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Technology or Medicine from a recognized University or equivalent.
Age Limit
The upper age limit for applying is 30 years. This limit is relaxed up to 5 years for candidates belonging to SC/ST/PWD and Female applicants, and up to 3 years for OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) candidates as on the last date of receipt of applications.

Job Description & Key Details
- The positions are purely temporary and contractual in nature, co-terminus with the project.
- Selected candidates are required to register for the Ph.D. programme at NIT Rourkela.
- Candidates appearing for their final examinations are also eligible to apply. However, they must submit their qualifying degree results by 30th October, 2026.
How to Apply
Eligible candidates are required to send the complete filled and signed application form (soft copy) along with self-attested documents regarding educational qualifications (indicating percentage of marks/division, mark sheets, and certificates), research papers (if any), and work experience certificates (if any).
- The documents must be compiled into a single PDF file.
- The PDF file must be sent via email to the respective Project Investigator’s email ID (listed in the table above).
- The subject line of the email must contain the text: “Advertisement No. NITR /65/ / Advt.- SR-R03”.
- No hard copies of the application need to be sent to the Institute.
