The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi (IIT Delhi), Industrial Research & Development Unit, has advertised an opening for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF). This is a temporary, contractual position for a time-bound research project funded by the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR).

Research Area

The research focuses on “Revisiting the Potential of Acoustic Heating in the Solar Atmosphere” (Project No. RP05081G), specifically involving magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) simulations and forward modeling techniques to investigate the propagation of magnetoacoustic waves and their role in plasma heating.

Eligibility / Qualification

  • Essential Qualification: BS-MS, M.Sc., B.E., B.Tech, or an equivalent degree with at least 55% marks, and must have passed the NET/GATE test in Physics.
  • Desirable Experience: Experience in scientific programming languages such as Python, C/C++, or Fortran.
  • Age Limit: Maximum 28 years. The upper age limit is relaxable up to 5 years for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC, women, and physically handicapped categories.

Job Description

The selected candidate will work under the supervision of Project Investigator Prof. Nitin Yadav. The primary responsibilities include performing magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) simulations and applying forward modeling techniques to study the propagation of magnetoacoustic waves and their contribution to plasma heating in the solar atmosphere.
