Job Summary

This is a temporary research position for a project investigating the fatigue performance of graphene-hybridized and weathered fiber-reinforced polymers (GFRPs and CFRPs). The selected candidate will have the opportunity to apply for the regular PhD program at IIT Ropar, subject to meeting the institute’s eligibility criteria.

Designation

Junior Research Fellow (JRF)

Research Area

Investigating the effect of graphene hybridization and weathering conditions on the fatigue performance of GFRPs and CFRPs (Project Number: ARDB/SP/4513/2261).

Location

Department of Mechanical Engineering, Satish Dhawan Block, IIT Ropar, Rupnagar, Punjab-140001, India.

Eligibility / Qualification

Candidates must meet one of the following criteria:

  • Option 1: B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering and M.Tech in Mechanical / Aerospace Engineering / Applied Mechanics from a recognized institute. Candidates must have obtained at least 60% marks (or 6.0 CGPA out of 10) in their Master’s degree and possess a valid GATE score.
  • Option 2: Exceptional candidates holding a B.Tech/B.E. degree in Mechanical / Aerospace Engineering with at least 60% marks (or 6.0 CGPA out of 10) and a valid GATE score.

Desirable Qualifications: Candidates with basic knowledge of MATLAB, Fortran, or Abaqus will be given preference.

Job Description

The selected Junior Research Fellow will work under the supervision of Dr. Sachin Kumar (Principal Investigator) on the following key objectives:

  • Investigate the effect of graphene modification on the micro-level fatigue behavior of GFRPs and CFRPs.
  • Investigate and compare the fatigue performance of conventional and graphene-modified CFRPs and GFRPs.
  • Examine the influence of weathering conditions on the fatigue performance of hybrid CFRPs and GFRPs.

Duration: 3 years or until the completion of the project, whichever is earlier (renewed annually subject to satisfactory performance).

Emoluments: As per AR&DB rules.
