IIT Ropar Recruitment 2026: JRF and Field Assistant Positions in NHPC Project
Applications are invited from suitable candidates for the positions of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) and Field Assistant at the Indian Institute of Technology Ropar (IIT Ropar). The positions are under the NHPC-sponsored research project entitled “Early Detection of Unstable Slopes around the Reservoir Rim through an Integrated Approach using SAR Imagery and UAV-mounted IRT Platform” supervised by Dr. Shray Pathak and Dr. Resmi Sebastian in the Department of Civil Engineering.

Research Area
Geo-informatics, GIS, Remote Sensing, Geology, and Civil Engineering with a focus on SAR imagery analysis, slope stability, and UAV-mounted IRT platforms.
Location
Department of Civil Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Ropar, Rupnagar, Punjab 140001, India (with required travel for field surveys).
Eligibility / Qualification
1. Junior Research Fellow (JRF)
- Qualification: M.Tech / M.E. / M.Sc. in Geo-informatics / GIS / Remote sensing / Geology / Civil Engineering.
- Requirement: Must be GATE / CSIR-UGC NET Qualified.
2. Field Assistant
- Qualification: Graduation or Diploma in a relevant field.
- Requirement: Experience in field surveys and willingness to travel to field sites.
Job Description & Details
Nature of Work:
- JRF: Data collection and slope stability analysis by integrating SAR imagery with UAV-mounted IRT for early detection of unstable slopes around the reservoir rim.
- Field Assistant: Field surveys and ground-truth data collection around the reservoir rim, support for UAV-IRT flights, and data entry in support of the project team.
Tenure & Emoluments:
- Tenure: 2 Years (Positions available immediately).
- JRF Fellowship: Rs. 37,000 + 10% HRA per month.
- Field Assistant Fellowship: Rs. 22,000/- per month.
