The Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur (IIT Kanpur) has invited applications for the position of Project Associate at the National Aerosol Facility (ATMAN CoE). This position is on a temporary/contractual basis for a project based in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.

Eligibility / Qualification
Essential Qualification
- Postgraduate degree in Environmental Science / Engineering, Atmospheric Science, Climate Studies, or a closely related field.
Desirable Qualifications
- Basic proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Working knowledge of Python or R for scientific and environmental data processing and analysis.
- Basic working knowledge of ArcGIS or QGIS for spatial data processing and visualization.
- Basic understanding of air quality monitoring, atmospheric/environmental data, and scientific measurements.
- Good analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Job Description
The key duties and responsibilities of the Project Associate include:
- Providing scientific and administrative support to the project manager, project executive officer, post-doctoral fellows, and project team.
- Assisting in air-quality and environmental monitoring, field deployment, data collection, and monitoring of sensors/scientific instruments.
- Processing, cleaning, analyzing, and quality checking scientific and environmental data to identify trends and patterns, presenting insights through graphs, charts, tables, and reports.
- Assisting in statistical, time series, and QA/QC analysis, including identification of trends, patterns, and pollution hotspots.
- Performing GIS-based data processing and visualization of environmental and spatial datasets using ArcGIS or QGIS.
- Conducting literature reviews and helping prepare technical reports, handbooks, policy documents, and project deliverables.
- Maintaining organized records of project data, field activities, equipment/instruments, observations, reports, and documentation.
- Undertaking other project-related scientific, technical, or administrative tasks assigned by the team.
Salary & Duration
- Salary: INR 21,600 – 1,800 – 54,000 per month consolidated (Commensurate with experience and skills).
- Duration: 1 year or until the end of the project (whichever is earlier), renewable annually based on performance.
