Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Tirupati is inviting applications from Indian nationals for the position of Project Assistant purely on a temporary and contract basis under an ANRF-funded research project.

Summary

IISER Tirupati is hiring one Project Assistant for a research project titled “Strain-Driven Stabilization of Chiral Skyrmions in 2D van der Waals Magnets for Spintronic Applications” led by Principal Investigator Dr. Rana Saha. The position offers a monthly stipend of INR 27,000 + 10% HRA, with an initial tenure of four months, renewable subject to satisfactory performance.

Eligibility/Qualification

Essential Qualifications:

  • B.Sc. degree in Physics, Materials Science, or a closely related discipline.
  • Minimum 50% marks or equivalent grade in the B.Sc. degree.
  • Strong interest in experimental condensed matter physics, materials science, or 2D materials.
  • Self-motivated and willing to learn new experimental techniques.
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and interdisciplinary research environment.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Experience in single-crystal growth of 2D van der Waals materials using CVT, flux growth, or related techniques.
  • Experience in designing and conducting experimental research.
  • Hands-on experience in strain engineering, strain-based devices, or strain-related research.
  • Familiarity with XRD, Raman spectroscopy, and AFM.
  • Interest or experience in magnetic materials, spintronics, chiral magnetic structures, skyrmions.

Age Limit:

Not more than 50 years as of the closing date of the advertisement.

Job Description

The selected Project Assistant will work on the ANRF-funded project titled “Strain-Driven Stabilization of Chiral Skyrmions in 2D van der Waals Magnets for Spintronic Applications” (Project Code: 30226259). The position is temporary and co-terminus with the project.

Note: Candidates selected for this position can also apply for the regular Ph.D. program of IISER Tirupati, provided they satisfy the requisite eligibility criteria.

Monthly Emoluments:

INR 27,000/- + 10% HRA
