Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) Tirupati has announced a recruitment notification (Advt. No. 85/2026) for the positions of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) / Project Associate-I and Laboratory Technician. These temporary positions are purely on a contract basis under ANRF & DBT-funded research projects led by Dr. Eswarayya Ramireddy.

Project Details & Fellowships

1. Junior Research Fellow / Project Associate – I (ANRF Funded)

  • Project 1: Enhancing Iron Use Efficiency in Crops Through Metabolic Rewiring: Role of Phosphoenolpyruvate Carboxylase (PEPC) in Nutrient-Stress Cross-Talk (Project Code: 30225245)
  • Project 2: Engineering Vascular Immunity by Deciphering Cytokinin Crosstalk Between Plants and Ralstonia solanacearum During Bacterial Wilt (Project Code: 30226252)
  • Fellowship:
    • Rs. 37,000/- + 10% HRA for candidates selected through National Eligibility Tests (CSIR/UGC-NET, GATE, or other national-level exams conducted by Central Government Departments/Agencies).
    • Rs. 30,000/- + 10% HRA for others who do not qualify for the above category.
  • Tenure: Initial offer for one year, renewable subject to satisfactory performance. Co-terminus with the project.
  • Age Limit: Not more than 30 years as of the closing date of the advertisement.

2. Laboratory Technician (DBT Funded)

  • Project: SEED-DSR: Seedling and Root Engineering for Efficiency (Nutrient and Water) and Drought/Heat Resilience in Direct-Seeded Rice (Project Code: 30326264)
  • Fellowship: Rs. 20,000/- + 9% HRA
  • Tenure: Initial offer for one year, renewable up to one more year subject to satisfactory performance. Co-terminus with the project.
  • Age Limit: Not more than 50 years as of the closing date of the advertisement.

Eligibility / Qualification

For JRF / Project Associate – I:

  • Essential: Master’s Degree in Natural or Agricultural/Horticultural Sciences from a recognized University or equivalent.
  • Desirable:
    • Experience in genetic transformation of Solanaceae plants like tomato or chili crops.
    • Experience in genomics, GWAS, and molecular cloning techniques used for gene editing technologies like CRISPR-Cas systems.
    • Hands-on experience in both Genomics and CRISPR technology is highly desirable.

For Laboratory Technician:

  • Essential:
    • Bachelor’s degree in Life Sciences, Biological Sciences, Biotechnology, Agricultural Sciences, Horticultural Sciences, or a related discipline from a recognized university.
    • Basic knowledge of laboratory practices, including sample handling, preparation of solutions/reagents, maintenance of records, and safe handling of laboratory equipment and chemicals.
  • Desirable:
    • Hands-on experience in plant tissue culture, molecular biology, crop-related laboratory techniques, and greenhouse management.
    • Experience in routine laboratory maintenance, inventory management, and data/record keeping.
    • Familiarity with basic DNA/RNA isolation, PCR, gel electrophoresis, or other molecular biology techniques.

Job Description

Selected candidates will work under the supervision of Dr. Eswarayya Ramireddy. JRF/Project Associates will focus on genetic transformation, molecular cloning, and CRISPR-Cas system applications in plant biotechnology. The Laboratory Technician will support general laboratory maintenance, prepare solutions, maintain records, manage greenhouse facilities, and assist with plant tissue culture and molecular biology assays.
