The School of Biotechnology, Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) invites applications for a temporary position of Project Assistant (One Post) in a project focused on developing AI tools and methods with biological data. This is an excellent opportunity for analytical minds interested in data science and AI applications without the requirement of a biology background or wet-lab experiments.

Eligibility/Qualification

Essential Qualification:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Sciences OR a 3-year Diploma in Engineering & Technology.

Preferred Qualification:

  • B.Tech. and/or Master’s in analytical sciences is preferred.
  • Experience working with data, preferably biological data.

Desirable Skills & Requirements:

  • Strong passion for Data Science and Biological Data.
  • An analytical mind with the willingness to work independently.
  • Prior experience in using data (any data), analytical tools, and working with data-related methods and AI tools/frameworks is required. Candidates without prior data experience will not be shortlisted.
  • Note: A background or degree in Biology/Biotechnology/Life Sciences is NOT required, and the position does not involve conducting wet-lab experiments.

Job Description

  • Nature of Appointment: Temporary and co-terminus with the project.
  • Duration: One year, with the possibility of extension subject to proper approval.
  • Emoluments: Rs. 20,000/- per month (Consolidated fixed) + HRA as per Government rules.
  • Age Limit: Maximum 50 years.
  • Selection Process: Candidates will be shortlisted based on their qualifications and prior experience in data science. Shortlisted candidates will be notified via email for an online personal interview.
