Eligibility / Qualification
A candidate is eligible for registration to the Ph.D. programme if they satisfy the following conditions:
- A Master’s degree in the concerned or an allied subject with a minimum 6.5 CGPA or 60% marks for General/OBC candidates, and 6.0 CGPA or 55% marks for SC/ST/PWD candidates, along with a valid GATE / NET (CSIR/UGC/LS) score in the concerned subject or discipline.
- A minimum of 6.5 CGPA or 60% for General/OBC and 6.0 CGPA or 55% for SC/ST/PWD at the Bachelor’s level with at least 55% marks at the Master’s level, along with a valid GATE / NET (CSIR/UGC/LS) score in the concerned subject or discipline.
OR
Note: GATE/NET is mandatory for Full-Time candidates. Relaxation from GATE/NET is applicable only for admission into the Part-Time Programme. Part-time candidates must have a minimum of two years of experience, be in service at the time of application, and submit a mandatory NOC.
Scholarship Description
A. Full-Time PhD Candidates:
- Fellowship: Rs. 46,250/- per month for the 1st and 2nd year; Rs. 52,500/- per month from the 3rd to 5th year.
- Research Contingency Grant Support: Rs. 1,20,000/- per year for the support duration of the Ph.D. candidate.
- Reimbursement of Rent: Provided to candidates not utilizing hostel/institute accommodation, capped at 24%, 16%, and 8% of the fellowship amount for class X, Y, or Z cities respectively, as per Government of India norms.
- One-time support for attending international conferences and visiting labs abroad for selected candidates fulfilling eligibility criteria.
B. Part-Time PhD Candidates:
- Provisioned for professionals working at a reputed place/organization.
- Candidates must not avail any other fellowship/scholarship from Central or State Government schemes.
- Eligible candidates receive a one-time incentive of Rs. 3 Lakh upon successful completion of the Ph.D. degree.

- Pay the non-refundable application fee of Rs. 500/- online via SBI Collect and note down the Transaction ID and date.
- Fill out the duly completed application form online, attaching clear passport photographs, required enclosures, and the fee deposit slip containing the correct transaction ID.
- Submit the application online on or before the cut-off date.
