BHU Junior Research Fellow (JRF) Recruitment 2026 – Department of Physics

Applications are invited from eligible candidates for the post of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in the Department of Physics, Institute of Science, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), Varanasi. The position is under an ANRF, New Delhi funded research project entitled “A study on the design and optimization of Supercell Phononic crystals for low frequency vibration reduction” (Project Code: P-07/1379). The position is purely temporary and co-terminus with the project, sanctioned for a duration of three years.

Eligibility / Qualification
- Essential Qualification: M.Sc. in Physics with a minimum of 55% marks and must have qualified NET/GATE examinations.
- Desirable Qualification: Candidates with research experience in Photonic/Phononic crystals, COMSOL Multiphysics, and MATLAB will be preferred.
- Age Limit: The upper age limit is 28 years. Relaxation of up to 5 years is applicable for SC/ST, female, and physically challenged candidates, and 3 years for OBC-NCL candidates. SC/ST candidates will be preferred as per Government of India rules, all other things being equal.
Job Description
The selected candidate will work on the ANRF-funded project focused on the design and optimization of Supercell Phononic crystals aimed at low-frequency vibration reduction under Principal Investigator Prof. Surendra Prasad.
- Duration: 3 Years (Temporary and co-terminus with the project)
- Remuneration: Rs. 37,000 per month for the 1st and 2nd year; Rs. 42,000 per month for the 3rd year. House Rent Allowance (HRA) will be provided as per university rules.
- Note: No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview. Only shortlisted candidates will be notified via email.
