Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IITH) is inviting applications from Indian nationals with excellent academic and research backgrounds for the temporary positions of Project Technical Support-I (Non-Medical) and Project Technical Support-III (Non-Medical). These positions are for an Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR)-funded project in the Department of Physics.

Research Area / Project Title

Project Title: AI-assisted 3D Vein Viewer: Portable NIR stereovision device using AI-based depth mapping to guide clinicians in safe, accurate IV access and jugular cannulation for challenging patients.

Location

Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad, Kandi, Sangareddy, Telangana, India.

Eligibility / Qualification

Project Technical Support-III (Non-Medical)

  • Essential Qualification: M.Sc. in Physics/Biomedical Science OR B.E./B.Tech. in Engineering, preferably in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Biomedical Engineering, or related areas.
  • Desirable Qualification: Prior research/laboratory experience in instrumentation, biomedical device development, optics/imaging, electronics, embedded systems, CAD/3D printing, data analysis, or related areas.

Project Technical Support-I (Non-Medical)

  • Essential Qualification: Three-year undergraduate degree in Science, preferably with a Physics specialization, OR a Diploma in Engineering, preferably in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation, Biomedical Engineering, or related areas.

Age Limit

Not more than 30 years as on the last day of application.

Remuneration and Tenure

  • Project Technical Support-I: Rs. 18,000 + 30% HRA per month
  • Project Technical Support-III: Rs. 28,000 + 30% HRA per month
  • Tenure: Temporary basis for 11 months, starting as soon as possible, and extendable for another 3 years based on performance and availability of funding.

Job Description

Duties for Project Technical Support-III:

  • Assisting in prototype design, assembly, testing, and troubleshooting.
  • Integrating NIR LEDs, cameras, Raspberry Pi/embedded hardware, display, and power modules.
  • Supporting CAD design, 3D printing, enclosure development, and thermal-management improvements.
  • Performing camera alignment, calibration, phantom testing, and laboratory validation.
  • Assisting in data collection, data analysis, documentation, reports, and presentations.
  • Coordinating with project scientists, clinicians, engineers, and industry partners.
  • Carrying out any other project-related work assigned by the PI.

Duties for Project Technical Support-I:

  • Assisting in device assembly, wiring, testing, and routine maintenance.
  • Supporting laboratory experiments, phantom studies, and basic imaging trials.
  • Helping with 3D printing, mechanical assembly, component procurement, and inventory.
  • Maintaining experimental records, data sheets, images, and project files.
  • Assisting in documentation, reports, presentations, and clinical-site coordination.
  • Supporting the PI and project team in day-to-day project-related activities.
