The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) invites online applications for the temporary post of Project Technical Support-III in the Department of Medical Sciences and Technology (MST). This position is for an ICMR-sponsored project titled “ICMR Centre for Advanced Research – ICMR-NIRT CCR for Tuberculosis Diagnostics & Therapeutics” under the coordination of Prof. Narayanan Madaboosi Srinivasan.

Job Summary

This is a contractual research position at IIT Madras for candidates with a background in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Biochemistry, Engineering, or IT. The role involves laboratory benchwork, biomolecule purification, and automated DNA extraction for diagnostics development.

Designation & Vacancy Details

  • Designation: Project Technical Support-III
  • Number of Vacancies: 01
  • Duration: Initially for one year, extendable based on performance.
  • Emoluments: Rs. 28,000/- + HRA (30%) = Rs. 36,400/- per month (including HRA)

Eligibility & Qualification

Candidates must meet one of the following educational and experience criteria:

  • Three years graduate degree in Biotechnology / Microbiology / Biochemistry / related domains, with 3 years’ experience, OR a PG degree.
  • OR
  • For Engineering / IT / CS: First Class Four Years Graduate Degree, with 3 years of experience.
  • Age Limit: Up to 35 years.

Job Description

The selected candidate will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Benchwork for bioassays and biomolecular interactions.
  • Purification and characterization of biomolecules for assay quantification.
  • Automated DNA extraction for Nucleic Acid Amplification Tests (NAATs).
  • Data entry and associated project-related activities.
  • Applying experience in biomolecules and biomedical technologies.
