PhD Position in National Quantum Mission Project at IIT Hyderabad

Applications are invited for a PhD position in the Department of Physics at IIT Hyderabad for the Department of Science and Technology National Quantum Mission (DST-NQM) funded project titled “Quantum annealing and optimization: mobility, multi-modal logistics, railway resource scheduling and related problems”.

  • Remuneration: JRF: ₹37,000 per month for 2 years; SRF: ₹42,000 per month for 2 years + HRA (as per institute norms)

Eligibility and Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

  • M.Tech or MSc in Physics, Quantum Technology, and other relevant fields.
  • GATE score: ≥ 455 (GEN), 432 (OBC), 343 (EWS/PWD), 240 (SC/ST).

Highly Desired Qualifications & Skills:

  • M.Tech or MSc in a Quantum Technology relevant course is preferred.
  • Prior experience in quantum and classical spin systems, as well as tensor network techniques in one and two dimensions, is highly desirable.

Job Description

The successful candidate will join the Department of Physics, IIT Hyderabad, to work under the supervision of Dr. Archak Purkayastha and Dr. Atanu Rajak on a DST-NQM funded project focused on quantum annealing, optimization techniques, quantum and classical spin systems, and tensor networks applied to real-world logistics and resource scheduling problems.
