Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Ropar is inviting applications for various project positions under a research project in the Electrical Engineering Department. The positions are temporary and will be contracted for a period of three years or until the closure of the project.

Project Details

  • Project Title: Research and Development of Location and Quantification of Partial Discharges in Power Cables
  • Principal Investigator (PI): Prof. C. C. Reddy, Professor, Electrical Engineering Department, IIT Ropar
  • Project Duration: 3 Years (The positions will end with the closure of the project)

Available Designations & Eligibility Criteria

1. Junior Research Fellow (JRF)

  • Number of Posts: 1
  • Qualification: M.Tech/M.E. in Electrical Engineering / Power Systems / High Voltage Engineering / and any other relevant area from a recognized university with a minimum CPI of 6.5 or 60% marks along with a valid GATE/CSIR-UGC NET Score.
  • Monthly Salary: Rs. 37,000 + HRA as per norms
  • Desirable Skills: Knowledge of Electrical Engineering basics, circuit theory, and power transmission systems.

2. Field Assistant

  • Number of Posts: 1
  • Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / 3-Year Diploma in Engineering & Technology area from a recognized Institution.
  • Monthly Salary: Rs. 27,000 + HRA as per norms
  • Desirable Skills: Experimental work and related preparation, execution, and documentation, providing assistance thereof.

3. Project Assistant

  • Number of Posts: 1
  • Qualification: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering / 3-Year Diploma in Engineering & Technology area from a recognized Institution.
  • Monthly Salary: Rs. 27,000 + HRA as per norms
  • Desirable Skills: Project execution-related planning, procurement, preparation, execution, documentation, and related assistance.

Job Description

Selected candidates will work under the guidance of Prof. C. C. Reddy on the research and development of location and quantification of partial discharges in power cables. Responsibilities will vary by role, ranging from core research and development for the JRF, to experimental preparation and project execution assistance for the Assistant roles.
